Canadian Canoes or Open Canoes are easy to paddle and a brilliant way to get out on the water and have fun. Open Canoes are very versatile and can be used on calm inland waterways such as canals, lakes through to estuaries and whitewater rivers, they can be paddled solo yet can also be paddled with a friend, got a family? No problem, we have Canoes with 3 to 4 seats as well and a fully equipped workshop so we can customize your canoe to your needs. We have chosen our canoes from the best manufacturers that ensure you will get a high-quality Canadian Canoe no matter what budget, that will be a pleasure to paddle for many years to come.
Our Recreational Open Canoe range is great for paddles on calm water such as the canals, lakes through to Canoe Camping trips down the Wye so will handle up to grade 2 White Water rapids. These are strong robust canoes made from triple layer polyethylene Plastic such as Nova Craft SP3, SIlverBirch DuraCore. These Canoes will give many years of service, are used and tested by most hire companies, Outdoor Centres and clubs. Although they are the most cost effective they are also the heaviest we stock but still very manageable to get on the roof rack or Canoe Trailer between two people. We are fans of the Broadlands which is the most sought after in our hire fleet, and a great way to try one to make sure that is the right canoe for you.
Touring Open Canoes are fast canoes designed to cover distances as efficiently as possible and have enough carrying capacity and space to pack several dry bags to let you stay out for a few nights to a couple of weeks and are the canoes to look at for an adventure down the Wye one weekend to the Danube in the summer. Touring open canoes tend to have less rocker, are narrower and longer to help them glide through the water. There are a few plastic canoes in this range, but our favourites come from Armerlite with their Skyliner 16 & Skyliner 17 both are a joy to paddle, lightweight for easily portaged and car topped by yourself.
White Water Canoes
Whitewater Open Canoes are designed to be paddled in rough whitewater conditions. These can be either more traditional canoes such as the Silverbirch Broadland 16 Duralite, Armerlite Brooks, these need to be outfitted with airbags which we can do here in our well-stocked workshop meaning as soon as you get your canoe you are ready to hit the rivers right away. The other option is OC1 or Specialist White Water Canoes these are short and very maneuverable and great for paddling the hardest whitewater you are capable of. These normally come fully fitted with saddles, thigh hooks or straps and full air bags our favourites include the Hou Canoes DropZone , SIlverbirch Covert9.5 and the Armerlite Homes
